We built Matterlist because none of the existing to-do list apps successfully address the issue of keeping your lists relevant to the reality of your life. You have a lot of tasks, but at any given moment only a few of them can be done — the rest just waste your attention. Matterlist helps you stay focused on tasks that matter right now.
Long to-do lists are scary. Writing everything down is key to productivity but can make your to-do list overwhelming. Matterlist gives you tools for hiding irrelevant tasks so you can quickly focus on the tasks you can do right now:
INFINITE TIMELINE:
If a task has a date, be it tomorrow, next Monday, or sometime in 2050, jump to that date and put your task there. When that day comes, you’ll see this task on your Today list. Go back to any date in the past to see what you accomplished on that day.
ROBUST RECURRING TASKS:
Create tasks that repeat periodically and manage them separately from regular, non-repeating tasks. If you edit or delete a single event in a recurrence (e.g., move a gym workout only for this week), the rest of the events in this recurrence will stay intact.
AUTOMATIC CONTEXTS:
Show or hide tasks from your list based on external conditions, such as time or location. For example, when you arrive at a specific location, your to-do list can automatically show tasks related to that location. For that to happen, define a few Contexts (e.g. @Home, @Office) and assign them to your tasks.
EASY POSTPONE:
Can’t complete a task right now? Hide it until a more convenient time. Simply swipe it away, tell it when to show up again, and forget about it. The postpone feature also works with recurring tasks. Plus, it doesn’t shift Due Dates like with other to-do list apps, so your deadlines stay safe!
STARS, NOTES AND PRIORITIES:
Make important tasks stand out with a star, mark them with a color to stress their importance or urgency, or attach notes with additional task information.
FIRST-CLASS SUBTASKS:
Divide a bigger task into smaller ones that you can do. Use unlimited nesting levels to represent any complex task you might have. Work with a subtask like with any other task: assign contexts, add notes, create due dates and postpone them whenever you like.
MULTI-LINE TO-DO ITEMS:
Feel free to write longer captions and describe your task in as many lines as you need. Matterlist will not shorten it to fit into a one-line design like many other to-do list apps do.

The free Matterlist account allows you to complete 150 tasks per month, and to create up to 10 recurring tasks and up to 5 contexts. To lift the limits, please upgrade to the Pro account.

The Matterlist Pro account is a paid monthly subscription. With the Pro account, you can complete any number of tasks per month, and create any number of recurring tasks and contexts.

The initial payment will be charged to your iTunes account as soon as you confirm the purchase of the subscription. Your subscription will renew automatically unless you turn auto-renew off at least 24-hours before the end of the current subscription period. The renewal payment will be charged to your iTunes account within 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period. You will be able to turn off auto-renew in your iTunes Account Settings any time after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase the appropriate subscription.
